Yummy!

This isn’t your traditional buffet; it’s an expanded, glorified version of the traditional buffet’s salad bar. But that’s not all this place has to offer. Besides and overwhelmingly plentiful variety of salad ingredients, dressings, toppers and other goodies, Super Salad offers home-made Texas chili, corn-bread, garlic bread, tacos and even pizza. Although I would admit the pizza appears to be primarily for fussy kids who refuse salad. They offer many different soups, cream and broth based to compliment any salad. The desserts are few, (brownies, strawberry short-cake, fruit, ice cream and pudding) but the restaurants’ motto is ‘We care how you eat,’ and they mean it. Everything was very fresh and well maintained. I was surprised to see a great variety of beverages as well, everything from the usual fountain drinks to lemonades, juices and a few teas. The apple juice was out, but as soon as it was known a server had it refilled and brought a drink to my daughter. In this place, you get your drink at the register before you sit down and serve yourself, so I was very pleased with the server for going the extra mile to serve us, when it wasn’t her job. (THAT is probably my number one pet peeve… “That’s not my job” *smack*) I was even more impressed when I learned she wasn’t a server. She was the cashier. Being a critic and all, I was ‘required’ to sample everything (a perk, I’ll admit) and was exceedingly pleased with a dressing called ‘Green Goddess.’ I can’t begin to explain the flavor, similar to a mild ranch, but green. Cucumber perhaps? No one really knows. The bar itself was not only constantly stocked, but cleaned as well. Very clean. Squeeky even. I felt bad as I spilled some sunflower seeds… raisins… even croutons… (oops) but was impressed to see the bar spick and span on my return trip. I think I’ll do that on purpose from here on out. (testing, one, two, three). I usually avoid the salad bar at buffets simply because I’d rather fill my plate with prime rib and steak for my money, but at $7.49 for a dinner, Super Salad more than makes up for what it lacks in meat. Tasty, healthy goodness.

Bottom Line: I strongly recommend this buffet! Perfect for a casual, healthy meal, the service is GREAT and the food is fresh and plentiful. Cheap too!
