What does it mean?
Here you will find specifics on the ratings given to restaurants, feel free to rate your own using these guidlines!
Atmosphere is rated based off the overall comfort of the restaurant. Everything from the colors, theme and accessories are considered. A high rating restaurant will have comfortable seating, a beautiful color scheme, sculptures and art, as well as warm lighting. A low rating restaurant will have old, out-dating designs that attract a negative response. Gaudy furnishings, unkempt carpets/floors, unclean furnishings etc.
Food ratings take into consideration many factors: Variety, taste, quality, display and availability. High ratings will identify restaurants whose selection offers a wide variety of flavorful, fresh foods that are attractive and constantly replenished. Low ratings will identify foods that have been left out for extended periods of time, is not hot, is bland or low quality. This rating will also identify if the restaurant has the food available, if you can’t get it, it’s not going to have a high rating now matter how good it is!
Service ratings review overall service provided by all employees, not just the server. Have an awesome chef who takes a moment to greet you? Higher rating. Great reviews are reserved for restaurants who have excellent staff ranging from the cashier to the host, server and management. Low ratings will be given to restaurants with staff who appear unkempt, un-professional (style and theme of restaurant is taken into consideration). Server ratings are included in the overall service category, but are judged by the Four A’s: Appearance, Attentiveness, Attitude and Awareness. (Please see RATE YOUR SERVER!)
Value is overall experience vs. cost. There is no set price for value. A high rating will indicate a very good price for an excellent experience, and a low score will be reserved for restaurants that were very pricy, but weren’t worth it.
